The A-Level Motorsports Technician is the highest-skilled technical role in the service department, responsible for advanced diagnostics, performance tuning, complex repairs, and custom build work on high-performance motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs, side-by-sides, snowmobiles, and other motorsports vehicles. This role ensures the highest levels of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Perform advanced diagnostic testing using OEM and aftermarket scan tools and equipment. 
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and fuel system issues. 
  • Complete engine rebuilds, transmission repairs, and performance upgrades. 
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure all equipment meets manufacturer and company standards. 
  • Install and tune performance components including ECU tuning, exhausts, intakes, turbo kits, and suspension upgrades. 
  • Fabricate or modify parts as needed for custom builds. 
  • Perform dyno runs and interpret results when applicable. 
  • Follow manufacturer specifications, service bulletins, and best practices. 
  • Maintain accurate digital and written service records. 
  • Assist in creating repair plans and time estimates. 
  • Provide technical support to B- and C-level technicians 
  • Occasionally speak with customers regarding technical findings and repair recommendations. 
  • Work closely with service advisors to ensure accurate job timelines. 
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment. 

Safety 

  • Wear ANSI Z87.1+ impact-rated safety glasses at all times. 
  • Use prescription safety glasses or approved safety eyewear if corrective lenses are needed. 
  • Wear safety footwear (slip-resistant, impact-rated). 
  • Use gloves appropriate to the task (chemical, cut-resistant, heat). 
  • Follow all OSHA, EPA, and company safety procedures. 
  • Use lockout/tagout when working on electrical systems or high-voltage components. 
  • Lift vehicles using certified lift points; inspect lift arms and safety locks before elevating a vehicle. 
  • Handle batteries, chemicals, coolants, and oils according to safety standards. 
  • Keep work areas clean and free of trip hazards, oil spills, and debris. 
  • Use proper ventilation when working with exhaust, fumes, solvents, or adhesives. 
  • Report any hazards, malfunctioning tools, or unsafe conditions immediately. 
  • Inspect tools daily and report or tag out damaged equipment. 
  • Operate scan tools, lifts, alignment machines, and specialty equipment only if trained. 
  • Follow manufacturer instructions for airbag systems, high-voltage components, and ADAS systems. 

Requirements 

  • 5+ years of experience in motorsports, power sports, or high-performance automotive service. 
  • Advanced knowledge of engines, drivetrains, electrical systems, and fuel systems. 
  • Experience with OEM diagnostic systems and specialized tools. 
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and service manuals. 
  • Valid driver’s license; motorcycle license preferred. 
  • OEM certifications such as Yamaha, Honda, Polaris, Kawasaki, or Can-Am. 
  • Experience with high-output or boosted engines. 

Physical Requirements  

  • Ability to?lift up?to 50?lbs, stand for extended periods, bend, kneel, and work in tight spaces.? 
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors depending on tasks

Note: This role is Fast-paced automotive environment with exposure to noise, chemicals, weather elements, and moving vehicles. Must be able to work?in?varying temperatures depending on shop and lot conditions.?

$30.00 - $35.00 Hourly Wage
