 Job Summary: The Assembly Operator I operates automated assembly machines and performs secondary operations safely as needed to complete work orders.


 What you will be doing


Machine Operation

  • Operate assigned automated assembly machines safely and efficiently. 
  • Perform in-line welding when required by the production process. 
  • Change reels at the completion of each lot, verify reel/lot counts, and apply correct labeling.

Quality Control & Inspection

  • Conduct thorough visual inspections to identify malformed or damaged parts. 
  • Perform all required measurements—camber, twist, hard gauge checks, insertion force, and withdrawal force and record results on the QIP Inspection Data Sheet.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Accurately complete all required paperwork, including work order traveler, lot/reel labels, box content form, machine maintenance schedule, any other assigned production records

Materials & Workflow Management

  • Maintain adequate supplies at each assigned machine to ensure timely completion of work orders. 
  • Empty bins at assigned machines at the end of each shift, at minimum. 
  • Move finished products to the designated warehouse area in accordance with established procedures.

Other duties:

  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Follow documented policies and procedures as designated by the company’s Employee Handbook and Local Work Rules. In addition, adhere to the proper Code of Conduct while on company property.


Requirements:

    

What you will bring to the team: 

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in machine operation or a manufacturing/production environment. 
  • Proven ability to perform basic quality inspections, including visual checks and use of measurement tools and gauges. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members. 
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain a positive, professional attitude. 
  • Demonstrated capability to work independently, follow established instructions, and complete assignments accurately within defined routines and standards. 
  • Ability to follow detailed verbal and written instructions. 
  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. 
  • Ability to work on your feet for extended periods while using tools and performing repetitive motions, including frequent bending and stooping. 
  • Sufficient visual acuity to read instructions, operate machinery, and inspect finished parts.

Preferred Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED. 
  • Experience with in-line welding or basic mechanical processes. 
  • Familiarity with automated reel-change systems or similar production workflows. 
  • Prior experience working within structured quality systems such as QIP, ISO 9001, or similar documentation standards.
