Position Summary: The Manager in Training is responsible for learning and participating in the day-to-day operations of the hotel with the guidance and direction of the hotel General Manager and/or Department Manager. The Manager in Training role is structured, developmental, and performance-based. Training timelines will vary based on individual progress and demonstrated competency. The Manager in Training will provide exceptional caring and genuine guest service at all times and uphold the Oxford Collection of hotels standards and culture. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: All duties and responsibilities of this position are to be performed with exceptional caring and genuine guest service upholding the Oxford Collection of hotels standards and culture at all times. Prepare and analyze proposals and determine appropriate selections of suppliers based on the company standards and expectations.

The MIT will rotate through the following departments:

  • Food & Beverage
  • Front Desk
  • Sales & Catering
  • Housekeeping
  • Maintenance
  • Administration


During rotations, the MIT will:

  • Learn and execute operational workflows, SOPs, and service standards in each department.
  • Analyze department performance metrics including labor cost, revenue generation, guest satisfaction scores, and productivity benchmarks.
  • Participate in forecasting, budgeting discussions, and revenue strategy meetings.
  • Assist in resolving guest concerns and service recovery situations.
  • Support hiring processes, onboarding, and team training initiatives.
  • Shadow leadership during coaching conversations, performance discussions, and departmental meetings.
  • Complete assigned operational improvement projects with measurable outcomes.
  • Demonstrate ability to independently supervise shifts as competency develops.

Other Duties

  • Adhere to attendance policies and maintain regular availability for scheduled shifts
  • May be required to participate in the hotel drivers program 
  • Other hotel related duties as assigned 

Additional tasks may be assigned, modified or changed as no employee has any inherent right to any particular job or authority

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Two or four year college degree preferred
  • Two years progressive experience in a hotel or related hospitality field preferred

JOB REQUIREMENTS 

  • Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit
  • Must have strong computer skills 
  • Must have excellent organization and time management skills
  • This position will require extended overnight travel to different hotels 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Long hours sometimes required, including nights, evenings and weekends 
  • Overnight travel is required
  • Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently, and squeezing & overhead reaching occasionally:  
  • Must be able to work indoors or outside; 
  • Must be able to stand on feet throughout the day;
  • Must be able to frequently lift up to 20 lbs and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs with assistance; 
  • Must be able to bend, squat crawl, kneel, push, pull, walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis;
  • While primarily an indoor job, must be able to walk outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat);
  • Must be able to climb stairs occasionally, both indoors and outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat).
