About the Role:
As a Camp Counselor within the kid's department, you will play a pivotal role in creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for children during their camp experience. You will be responsible for supervising campers, ensuring their safety, and fostering positive social interactions among participants. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills to effectively guide and motivate campers while collaborating with fellow staff members. Ultimately, your efforts will contribute to memorable and impactful camp experiences that promote confidence, independence, and lifelong skills in campers.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Previous experience working with children or in a camp setting is required.
- Ability to pass a background check and meet health and safety requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic first aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain prior to camp start.

- Physical ability to participate in activities, run, climb, swim, lift or support the weight of children

Responsibilities:
- Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times during camp activities and free periods.
- Plan, organize, and lead daily recreational, educational, and team-building activities tailored to the age group and interests of campers.
- Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating respect, responsibility, and enthusiasm in all interactions with campers and staff.
- Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and camp leadership regarding camper progress, behavior, and any concerns.
- Assist in resolving conflicts and managing camper behavior in a constructive and supportive manner.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and camp events to maintain a cohesive and effective team environment.
- Ensure compliance with camp policies, health and safety regulations, and emergency procedures.

The required skills such as communication, leadership, and first aid are essential for ensuring camper safety and fostering a positive camp environment. Effective communication skills enable counselors to clearly convey instructions, provide encouragement, and address concerns with campers and parents. Leadership skills are used daily to motivate campers, manage group dynamics, and maintain order during activities. First aid knowledge is critical for responding promptly and appropriately to minor injuries or health issues. Preferred skills like additional certifications and multilingual abilities enhance the counselor's capacity to support diverse camper needs and enrich the overall camp experience.
