Life Services Coach

The Burnaby Association for Community Inclusion supports people with developmental disabilities across the life span to live a good life.  We are a grassroots organization founded over 60 years ago and are committed to learning and evolving as an organization.  Our mission is a society that includes all people.

Included in the position:  

The primary goal of this position is to work directly with individuals using the LIFE Service and their informal support networks to co-design and experience a personalised service focused on Learning, Relationships, Community and Economic Inclusion.  Linked to the design and delivery of personalized services, the LIFE Service Coach works with individuals using Life Services, their informal support networks, BACI and funders to evaluate the effectiveness of service and adjust as needed to ensure effectiveness.

  • To provide in-person support to participants exploring community, places of belonging and supporting in the development of relationships.
  • Trains, supports and monitors individuals in a variety of employment, community and learning settings.
  • Researches and connects individuals to employers and supports the person to develop employment skills.
  • This position requires advance skills to promote independence and self-determination.  These include knowledge and ability to implement Person-Centred Thinking philosophy, Asset BASED Community Development, ability to identify risk and support in risk mitigation measures as well as an understanding of and an ability to apply the principles of user-led service design and Developmental Evaluation.
  • This position requires strong interpersonal and time management skills to ensure people supported are identifying meaningful and impactful goals and moving towards the life they want to live within a defined time.
  • Liaise with funders and managers to ensure appropriate case loads and generate and provide funders with reporting.
  • Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma in Human Services/ Social Services/ Community Development from an accredited College or University is required – combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • In addition, three years’ recent related experience in community involvement and development or a related field.  
  • Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with a developmental disability or an equivalent of additional education and experience may be considered.  
  • First Aid, CPR, TB assessment and up-to-date vaccinations.
  • Unrestricted Class 5 BC Driver’s license and use of personal vehicle required.
  • The successful applicant will be required to have a Criminal Record Search and Driver’s License Search completed. 
  • Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000

    Hours: Full-Time Position
