GridPower Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced CAD Manager to lead our drafting and design documentation efforts for utility-scale solar projects. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on setting drawing standards, building and maintaining design libraries, automating workflows, and collaborating cross-functionally with engineering, procurement, and field teams. The ideal candidate will have strong AutoCAD skills, deep familiarity with solar design documentation, and a process-driven mindset.


Responsibilities:
• Develop and enforce CAD standards, layers, title blocks, and symbols tailored to solar and electrical system design.
• Establish and maintain document control best practices including naming conventions and version management.
• Own QA/QC review of drawing packages across engineering teams and client submittals.
• Build and maintain an AutoCAD block and detail library for solar components including harnesses, trunkbus, IPCs, disconnects, conduit layouts, and packaging solutions.
• Integrate vendor-specific components and field feedback into standard drawings.
• Update CAD templates as product lines and approved vendor lists evolve.
• Create scripts, macros, or automation tools to reduce repetitive design work.
• Integrate data outputs from Excel or takeoff tools into CAD workflows.
• Minimize manual redlines and drafting errors through template-based automation.
• Train and support internal design and drafting personnel.
• Collaborate closely with Design Engineers, Procurement, and Field Operations to ensure takeoffs are accurately reflected in drawing packages.
• Incorporate field markups and redlines into final as-built drawing sets.


Requirements:
• 5+ years of CAD drafting experience with at least 3 years focused on solar design (utility-scale preferred).
• Expert-level AutoCAD proficiency (2D required; 3D not required).
• Experience with solar PV design tools such as PVsyst, PVfarm, or Helioscope.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated success managing drawing standards, template libraries, and document revision control.
• Ability to automate workflows using AutoLISP or Excel-linked integrations.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to support cross-functional teams.


Physical Requirements:
• Lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required infrequently.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
