The approximate base compensation range is posted, but the actual offer will reflect our total compensation and benefits package. The offer will be determined by a number of factors including the selected candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, FTE, number of months worked, as well as internal equity among our team.

The College of St. Scholastica (CSS) in Duluth, MN invites applications for an anatomy instructor faculty position beginning August 2025. CSS is a small liberal arts college committed to the values of Respect, Hospitality, Stewardship, Community, and Love of Learning.  Our College has a long history of providing high-quality anatomy lab experiences for our students, offering opportunities to work with donor bodies across multiple courses. The Biology Department is firmly committed to a student-centered, evidence-based curriculum rooted in Vision and Change. 

The successful applicant will have an earned master’s or doctorate in anatomy or a closely related field, will contribute to teaching undergraduate anatomy labs and physiology lectures, and will serve as director of anatomy labs. Additional courses may be available depending on department needs and candidate interests. The individual hired will be expected to teach 24-contact hours/academic year, manage teaching assistants, coordinate undergraduate and graduate anatomy lab usage, and contribute to the department. Key Results/Responsibilities:  

Teach anatomy labs, A&P I/II lecture

Hire, train, and supervise teaching assistants

Serve as Anatomy Lab Director (order supplies including donor bodies, maintain compliance with Anatomical Bequest Program at the University of Minnesota, oversee anatomy budget, arrange meetings with departments who utilize donor bodies)

Participate in the work of Biology Department and other work at the College

Contribute to and participate in fostering a culture of inclusion in support of College diversity goals

Required Qualifications:

Master’s or Ph.D. in anatomy or a closely related field

Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse populations, cross-cultural communication, and multicultural competency

Preferred Qualifications:

College teaching experience

Content expertise in anatomy and physiology

Experience or willingness to learn anatomical dissection techniques 

Experience engaging students in teaching assistant opportunities

Familiarity with managing budgets

Salary Information

$50000.0 - $56400.0 Annual Salary
