About this position

OBJECTIVE / ACCOUNTABILITY

CDL Class A drivers are responsible for safely operating commercial vehicles to transport goods and materials to designated locations. The driver is accountable for ensuring the vehicle is in good working condition, maintaining a safe driving record, and adhering to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations. These drivers will be entrusted with the timely and efficient delivery of goods while offering excellent customer service.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Operate and Drive Commercial Vehicles:
    1. Safety operates and drives Class A commercial vehicles to transport goods.
    2. Follow prescribed routes and delivery schedules to ensure timely arrival. 
  • Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance:
    1. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure they’re in good working condition.
    2. Report any mechanical issues or defects to fleet management for repairs. 
    3. Preform minor vehicle maintenance tasks as necessary (e.g., checking fluid levels, tire pressure).
  • Recordkeeping and Documentation:
    1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date driving logs, including mileage, fuel usage, and delivery times.
    2. Complete and submit all required paperwork, including delivery invoices and manifests. 
    3. Ensure compliance with electronic logging device (ELD) requirements.
  • Customer Service:
    1. Interact professionally with customers during deliveries and pickups. 
    2. Address customer concerns or issues promptly, escalating when necessary.
    3. Ensure that all deliveries meet customer expectations regarding the timing and condition of goods. 
  • Safety and Compliance:
    1. Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations, including hours-of-service requirements.
    2. Maintain a clean and safe driving record with no major violations. 
  • Vehicle Cleanliness and Organization:
    1. Maintain a clean and organized vehicle, ensuring that it is presentable for customers and in good working condition. 
    2. Ensure the cab and cargo are free of clutter and hazards. 
        

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possession of a valid CDL Class A, with the appropriate endorsements for the vehicle being operated. 
  • Must be 21 years of age or older (per DOT regulations).
  • A clean driving record, with no major violations in the past 4 years. 
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screenings and ongoing random drug testing.
  • Strong understanding of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations. 
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and documentation. 
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience, or completion of a reputable CDL training program. 
  • Familiarity with GPS navigation and electronic logging devices (ELDs) is preferred.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not required. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • Ability to drive for long periods and cover extensive distances with overnight stays. 
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evening, weekends, or holidays, as needed. 
  • Physical ability to load and unload cargo, including pushing / pulling heavy items.
