About this position

Job Description:
The Surgery Center of Huntsville is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Surgery Scheduler to support a high-volume, multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center. This role coordinates surgical procedures for Orthopedics, General Surgery, ENT, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Retinal, Pain Management, Gastroenterology (GI), and Urology while providing excellent service to patients and providers in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Schedule a high volume of surgical procedures across multiple specialties

Deliver exceptional customer service to patients, families, physicians, and clinical staff

Coordinate surgery dates and times with providers and their office staff

Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and required authorizations

Manage daily schedule changes including cancellations and add-on cases

Maintain accurate records in the EMR and scheduling systems

Serve as a liaison between physician offices and surgical departments

Handle a high volume of inbound and outbound calls professionally and efficiently

Follow HIPAA and regulatory compliance standards

Print, copy, and distribute both the preliminary schedule (mid-day) and the final schedule (at the end of the workday)

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required

1+ years of medical or surgical scheduling experience

Strong knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy

Experience with EMR and scheduling systems

Familiarity with CPT codes, insurance verification and prior authorizations

Skills:

Strong customer service and communication skills

Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment

Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities

Ability to work independently or within the group
