About this position

Description:

The controller will be responsible for oversight of all finance, accounting and reporting activities.  In addition to the day-to-day accounting functions, the Controller is responsible for managing month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting.   This position reports directly to the executive director and manages one to two staff members in accounting.  


This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Executive Director.  

Requirements:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:   

  • Responsible for developing annual budget with Executive Director as well as other Directors across the organization. 
  • The controller will work with our external accounting firms to prepare documentation and assist in creating and managing our annual audits. 
  • Oversee general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliations. 
  • Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, collections, and cash application. 
  • Approve credit holds and set credit limits for new accounts 
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes. 
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules, depreciation, and related reporting. 
  • Oversee inventory accounting, including reconciliations between physical and system counts. 
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls. 
  • Supervise, mentor, and support the accounting staff. 
  • Required to have active involvement in all accounting functions, i.e. “hands-on” approach 

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA required. 
  • Intermediate to advanced level working knowledge of QuickBooks Online. 
  • 5-7+ years of senior-level accounting experience, preferably in the non-profit sector 
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP and internal controls. 
  • Hands-on experience with general ledger, AR, and inventory accounting. 
  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and vlookups. 
  • Proficiency with association management software such as Member Central is highly desired. 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, small-company environment. 
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills. 


Salary Information

$105000.00 - $115000.00 Annual Salary
