About this position
Description:
The controller will be responsible for oversight of all finance, accounting and reporting activities. In addition to the day-to-day accounting functions, the Controller is responsible for managing month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting. This position reports directly to the executive director and manages one to two staff members in accounting.
This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Executive Director.
Requirements:Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for developing annual budget with Executive Director as well as other Directors across the organization.
- The controller will work with our external accounting firms to prepare documentation and assist in creating and managing our annual audits.
- Oversee general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, collections, and cash application.
- Approve credit holds and set credit limits for new accounts
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules, depreciation, and related reporting.
- Oversee inventory accounting, including reconciliations between physical and system counts.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
- Supervise, mentor, and support the accounting staff.
- Required to have active involvement in all accounting functions, i.e. “hands-on” approach
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA required.
- Intermediate to advanced level working knowledge of QuickBooks Online.
- 5-7+ years of senior-level accounting experience, preferably in the non-profit sector
- Solid knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
- Hands-on experience with general ledger, AR, and inventory accounting.
- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and vlookups.
- Proficiency with association management software such as Member Central is highly desired.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, small-company environment.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Salary Information
$105000.00 - $115000.00
