The Pre-Production Supervisor oversees the pre-production phases of transmission remanufacturing. This role is crucial in ensuring smooth operations within the transmission teardown, disassembly, parts inspection, and case prep areas. The supervisor will lead a team, manage workflows, and maintain quality standards to ensure that all pre-production processes align with the company’s goals and regulatory specifications.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Team Management:

  • Supervise and coordinate activities of staff in transmission teardown, disassembly, parts inspection, and case prep areas.
  • Delegate tasks, and monitor performance to ensure efficient operations and adherence to production schedules.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and productivity.

Process Oversight:

  • Oversee the teardown and disassembly of transmissions, ensuring that all parts are handled correctly, and processes are followed.
  • Manage the parts inspection process to verify that all components meet quality and safety standards before moving to the next phase.
  • Ensure that the transmission case prep area is maintained to high cleanliness and readiness standards.

Quality Control:

  • Implement and enforce quality control procedures to detect and address issues early in the pre-production phase.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with company standards and industry regulations.
  • Address any quality concerns or non-conformities promptly, coordinating with other departments as necessary.

Workflow Optimization:

  • Analyze current processes and workflows to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and streamline operations.
  • Collaborate with the Production Manager to forecast needs and adjust resources and schedules accordingly.

 

 

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure all activities are performed in accordance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct regular safety training and audits to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

 

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of production activities, issues, and resolutions.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on departmental performance, including productivity metrics and quality statistics.
  • Document and track any changes or updates to procedures or protocols.

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role overseeing similar departments.

 

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in quality control and safety protocols.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with transmission systems and components is highly desirable.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move heavy parts and materials.
  • Capability to stand or walk for extended periods and work in various environmental conditions.
