About the Role:
The IT Help Desk and Cyber Security Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation and security of the manufacturing company's IT infrastructure. This position is responsible for providing timely technical support to end-users, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and maintaining system integrity. Additionally, the specialist will implement and monitor cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive company data and prevent unauthorized access. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying vulnerabilities and responding to security incidents to minimize risk. Ultimately, this position supports the organization's operational efficiency and safeguards its digital assets in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in IT support or help desk roles, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems, networking fundamentals, and common business software.
- Basic knowledge of cybersecurity principles, including firewalls, antivirus, encryption, and vulnerability management.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users.
- Ability to administer the organizations Microsoft enviroment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals.
- Experience with industrial control systems (ICS) security or familiarity with manufacturing-specific IT environments.
- Hands-on experience with security information and event management (SIEM) tools and endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards relevant to manufacturing, such as NIST or ISO 27001.
- Strong project management skills and experience coordinating IT security initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Provide first-line technical support to employees by diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls to ensure compliance with security policies.
- Monitor network traffic and system logs to detect and respond to potential security threats or breaches.
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity protocols, including firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems.
- Conduct regular system updates, patches, and backups to maintain system reliability and security.
- Collaborate with IT and manufacturing teams to support technology needs and ensure minimal disruption to production.
- Document technical procedures, incidents, and resolutions to maintain accurate records and support continuous improvement.
- Educate employees on cybersecurity best practices and promote awareness to reduce risk of social engineering attacks.
- Ensure accurate tracking of all IT assets
