About this position
Position Summary
The Cable Puller supports data center construction by installing, routing, and securing electrical and fiber‑optic cabling. This role works closely with electricians, low-voltage technicians, and construction teams to ensure all cabling is installed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Pull, route, and organize electrical and fiber-optic cables through trays, conduits, racks, raised floors, and overhead pathways
- Assist in staging, labeling, and preparing cable before installation
- Support installation of cable trays, J-hooks, raceways, and other pathway infrastructure
- Maintain proper bend radius, pulling tension, and cable protection standards (especially for fiber)
- Follow drawings, installation specifications, and work instructions accurately
- Secure and dress cables neatly using Velcro, ties, and appropriate fastening hardware
- Assist in terminating copper or fiber connections if trained (optional depending on skill level)
- Operate cable‑pulling equipment safely, including fish tape, rope, pullers, and winches
- Maintain clean and organized work areas, removing cable scraps and debris daily
- Identify and report issues such as pathway obstructions, cable damage, or safety hazards
- Follow all data center safety protocols, PPE requirements, and lockout/tagout procedures
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience pulling electrical or low‑voltage cabling in commercial or industrial environments
- Understanding of basic cable types: power, copper, and fiber
- Ability to read simple drawings, cable schedules, and labeling plans
- Physically able to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, work overhead, and navigate construction sites
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, large-scale build-out environments
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain clean cable routing
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow direction from leads and foremen
