Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team. Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments, to promote optimal oral health.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, taking vital signs, and evaluating periodontal status.
- Assist dentists during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to strict infection control and aseptic techniques.
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster long-term oral health habits.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Review documentation for accuracy, completeness, and proper coding for billing purposes using medical coding standards.
- Monitor infection control protocols diligently to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a sterile environment in accordance with OSHA guidelines.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate patient care plans within general dentistry and pediatric dentistry specialties as needed.
- Stay current with advancements in dental terminology, medical terminology, and industry best practices through ongoing education.
Skills
- Proficiency in using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record keeping.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control procedures essential for safe practice.
- Experience with pediatric dentistry procedures and working with pediatric patients is highly desirable.
- Expertise in chairside assisting techniques including medical imaging, vital signs measurement, and aseptic technique implementation.
- Familiarity with medical records management, HIPAA compliance standards, and medical coding practices related to dental services.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse patient populations.
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to dental assessments and treatment planning.
- Ability to work efficiently within a team environment while maintaining high standards of professionalism.
