About this position
Why You’ll Love This Role
If you enjoy building smart solutions and understanding the business behind them, this role was designed for you. You will deliver hands-on improvements to internal business systems using Dynamics 365/Dataverse, Power Automate, and Power BI.
This role is best for someone with 2–5 years of direct, hands-on Power Platform and Dynamics 365/Dataverse experience who wants ownership of real operational tools. You will be assigned well-scoped items from a prioritized backlog (bug fixes, workflow enhancements, automation, and reporting), and you will also collaborate with users to clarify requirements and confirm what “done” looks like. You will own end-to-end technical delivery, with IT leadership providing business context and prioritization.
This is not a traditional software engineering position (no greenfield product development, no pure IC software engineering ladder). If your background is primarily product software engineering with limited Dynamics 365/Dataverse, Power Automate, or Power BI experience, this role will not be a fit.
What this role is
- Hands-on delivery of small-to-medium improvements from a prioritized backlog, including bug fixes, enhancements, automation, and reporting
- A balance of focused build time and business partnership to gather requirements, validate solutions, and drive adoption
- Ownership of internal systems and workflows that people rely on daily
What this role is not
- Not greenfield product development or building a standalone product from scratch
- Not a role focused only on writing code all day with minimal business interaction
- Not a helpdesk or sysadmin position, although you will support what you ship
Requirements: What you’ll do
You will deliver a steady stream of small-to-medium ticketed work from a prioritized backlog, including:
Dynamics 365 / Dataverse (model-driven apps)
- Configure tables/columns, relationships, forms, views, business rules, and security roles
- Implement light-to-medium JavaScript customizations (form events, validation, and command behaviors)
Power Automate
- Build and maintain flows with reliability patterns (retries, failure paths, alerts/notifications, duplicate-prevention)
Power BI
- Build datasets and reports: clean dimensional models (star schema where practical), DAX measures, Power Query (M), and performance tuning
SharePoint / Microsoft 365
- Document library integration, metadata/linking patterns, Teams/Outlook notifications
- Occasional client portal support (internal name: Connexion)—small enhancements and fixes
What We’re Looking For
You should have hands-on experience in most of the following:
- 2–5 years building and supporting production solutions in Dynamics 365/Dataverse and/or Microsoft Power Platform
- Built Power Automate cloud flows used in production (that you owned/support)
- Built Power BI datasets/reports using DAX + Power Query
- Maintained JavaScript in a business application context (debugging and safe production changes)
- Strong troubleshooting habits (UI behavior, data, flow run history, and report issues)
- We handle confidential legal and health-related information; solutions must follow least-privilege principles and be auditable and supportable.
- Comfortable working directly with users to clarify requirements and deliver improvements quickly
- Orlando-area residency and the ability to work hybrid
Nice-to-have (not required)
- Dataverse Web API (OData), JSON payloads, FetchXML basics
- Power BI RLS, incremental refresh concepts, and advanced performance tuning
- SharePoint + Dataverse document linkage patterns (permissions-aware)
- Power Pages/portal experience
- Exposure to Azure Functions, Logic Apps, or custom connectors
Growth and Career Path
This role is designed as a hands-on business applications position with strong technical delivery. In the near term, you will deepen your expertise across Dynamics 365/Dataverse, Power Automate, Power BI, and SharePoint by shipping a high volume of small-to-medium improvements and learning our business processes end to end.
As you become more fluent in our systems and operations, your scope can expand into owning larger workstreams, setting standards and reusable patterns, mentoring teammates, and driving cross-department process improvements. Over time, this role can grow into a senior Business Applications lead or Business Systems Manager path, with broader ownership of enterprise platforms and greater responsibility for aligning technology decisions with business strategy.
The Bottom Line
You will have real ownership and the opportunity to make a visible impact quickly. If you like taking a prioritized backlog, turning requests into practical solutions, and delivering improvements that make daily work easier, this role offers autonomy, variety, and a strong partnership with IT and business leadership.
