Position Summary
The Head of Government Banking is responsible for leading the bank's public sector strategy and growing relationships with state, municipal, county, and regional government entities across New Jersey and Southeast PA, with support for the Florida Market. This role oversees business development, portfolio growth, deposit acquisition, treasury management penetration, and overall relationship expansion within the government and municipal segments.
In addition to the public sector, this role is expected to generate other business opportunities outside the government vertical by identifying prospects and bringing in traditional business banking relationships.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Grow government banking portfolio in line with individual and bank annual deposit goals.
2. Maintains open communication with Chief Retail Banking Officer, Regional Branch Managers, Regional Presidents, and other departments to discuss new opportunities.
3. Maintains confidence in and protects the bank by adhering to all rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
4. Respond to public sector RFPs, delivering competitive and compliant proposals.
5. Cross-sell treasury services, merchant services, lending products, technology solutions.
6. Manage and deepen existing public sector relationships to increase deposit balances, service utilization, and account profitability.
7. Coordinate onboarding processes to ensure smooth implementation of treasury and deposit services.
8. Provide ongoing support with account reviews, collateral requirements, and regulatory updates.
9. Supports the Retail Team as needed in maintaining critical customer relationships and resolving customer issues that arise.
10. Joins local organizations and attends networking and business events to expand base of contacts and to help build awareness of the Bank.
11. Attend internal management meetings as needed.
12. Maintain a monthly pipeline and keeps up to date with opportunities and closed business utilizing Salesforce for tracking purposes.
13. Offers suggestions and help with decision-making to successfully implement new changes in products, policies, and/or procedures.
14. Assumes additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree preferred, or 15 years plus years' experience in government banking management

Pay: $125,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
