Position Overview
Talantage is seeking a mid-level associate with 4–6 years of sophisticated real estate finance experience to join our client's Real Estate Practice. The successful candidate will focus on complex debt and equity transactions—from single-asset mortgage and mezzanine financings to multibillion-dollar portfolio and capital markets deals.
This role provides:
- Immediate, hands-on responsibility for marquee transactions.
- Direct client exposure across high-profile matters.

- Structure, document, and close mortgage, mezzanine, construction, preferred equity, and syndicated credit facilities on behalf of banks, debt funds, insurers, private equity sponsors, and institutional investors.
- Negotiate intercreditor, co-lender, participation, syndication, and servicing agreements for sophisticated capital stacks, including CMBS and CRE-CLO executions.
- Coordinate multistate and multijurisdictional diligence (title, survey, zoning, corporate, tax) to meet aggressive closing timelines.
- Advise on joint venture, preferred equity, and development structures—including waterfall modeling, governance, and exit strategies.
- Mentor junior associates and supervise paralegals to ensure client-ready deliverables under tight deadlines.
Personal Attributes
- Strong analytical, drafting, and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex finance concepts.
- Proven ability to manage multiple high-value transactions simultaneously.
- Team-oriented, collaborative mindset and commitment to client service.
- 4+ years of focused real estate finance experience at an Am Law-quality firm.
- Hands-on experience drafting credit agreements, mortgage/mezzanine loan documents, and intercreditor agreements.
- Familiarity with CMBS, CRE-CLO, balance-sheet lending, joint ventures, and preferred equity structures; capital markets or structured finance background strongly preferred.
- Experience managing due diligence and closing logistics for large, multisite transactions.
- Admission to the Missouri Bar (in good standing).
- Admission to the New York Bar (or willingness to sit for the exam / seek admission on motion) is a plus.
