About this position
Summary:
The VP, Commercial Underwriting is responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of commercial banking relationships, ensuring strong credit quality, profitability and customer satisfaction. This role supports commercial bankers/relationship managers by conducting financial analysis, underwriting, credit requests, monitoring loan performance and identifying opportunities for portfolio expansion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee a diverse commercial loan portfolio, ensuring quality, compliance and profitability.
- Conduct financial analysis on borrowers, assess risks, and prepare credit memos for approval.
- Monitor loan performance, identify potential risks, and implement proactive measures to minimize credit losses.
- Assist in managing client relationships, providing financial insights, and responding to client needs.
- Stay informed about industry trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes affecting the portfolio.
- Work closely with relationship managers, credit officers, and leadership to optimize portfolio growth and stability.
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of financial statements, cash flow analysis and credit underwriting principles.
- Knowledge of banking regulations, loan structuring and risk assessment.
- Excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and additional banking systems.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 3 years experience in commercial lending, credit analysis or portfolio management within banking.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at one time.
- May need to sit for long periods of time while working on a computer.
Salary Information
