Job Summary:
The Senior Operator will be responsible for maintaining equipment efficiency and ensuring material availability associated with running a production line. Their work is to be consistent with established standards by performing the duties personally or through subordinate employees.
Responsibilities of the Position:
- Assist the Supervisor on production floor tasks and supervision
- Maintain all equipment to ensure efficient running
- Adjust equipment to maximize line effectiveness
- Escalate issues to the Production Supervisor and or the Maintenance Manager in the event any piece of the equipment at the line is not performing correctly
- Report any non-critical machine deficiencies to Maintenance as needed
- Supply all materials to each employee at the line when required to do so
- Train all employees on tasks as needed
- Enforce company rules regarding safety, discipline, cooperation and teamwork
- Attend selected meetings
- Perform line setups
- Check production traceability reports
- Check production reporting (lot codes, backflush, relocations, physicals)
- Attend facility safety meetings monthly.
- Submit reports on any accidents or near-miss situations.
- Verify Lockout Tagout throughout the shift
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Average math skills
- Ability to read and interpret company documents
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels
- Ability to use hand tools to perform repairs and setups
Education and Experience:
- Mechanical or machine operation experience required
- Experience with Ishida Scales, setting up recipes and settings
- Experience with Ishida Checkweighers, setting up recipes and settings
- Experience with date coders
Food Safety Responsibilities:
- Attend all food safety training sessions (GMP, SQF, HACCP, Allergen, Food Facility Security, Preventing Foodborne Illness)
- Participate in company GMP walks
- Enforce company rules regarding food safety and monitoring
Working Conditions:
- Warehouse environment with temperature range of 55 – 80 degrees
- This position may require the employee to work weekends or shifts other than their own to meet the needs of the business.
- This position requires the employee to work shifts between 8 and 12 hours in length
- This position works in a facility where milk, eggs, peanuts, soy, and/or wheat allergens are processed
Physical Requirements:
- Operate standard office equipment
- Active position that requires standing continuously, walking frequently, sitting occasionally, reaching, and bending
- Able to operate industrial equipment and company specific equipment.
- Associate must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds.
