Urology office is looking for a qualified and experienced Referral Coordinator in our fast-paced out-patient urology clinic. This position will support both the Gilbert and Phoenix office in our Gilbert location.


Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday day shift position.  


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:   

    Ensure referrals are addressed in a timely manner Ensure proper authorization is obtained and with insurance companies to process referrals Verifies and updates patient registration information in the practice management system. Obtains benefit verification and necessary authorizations (referrals, precertification) prior to patient arrival for all ambulatory visits, procedures, injections and radiology services. Uses online, web based verification systems and reviews real-time eligibility responses to ensure accuracy of insurance eligibility. Creates appropriate referrals to attach to pending visits. Verifies patient demographic information and insurance eligibility including coordination of benefits; updates and confirms as necessary to allow processing of claims to insurance plans. Completes chart prepping tasks daily to ensure smooth check-in process for the patient and clinic. Fax referral form to providers that do not require any records to be sent. Be able to process 75-80 referrals on a daily basis. For primary specialty office visits, fax referral/authorization form to PCPs and insurance companies in a timely fashion.  

Knowledge and Skills:  

    Knowledge of Medical Office operations.  Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, HCPCS coding. Proficiency in basic mathematics, Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook, and Internet.  Ability to use office equipment, computer. Able to be in a seated position, talk on the phone, repetitive keyboard usage and clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.   

 Education and Experience:  

    2-3 years’ experience processing referrals within a medical specialty office. 2-3 years of medical insurance experience to include knowledge of all insurance types and benefit structures.
