Responsibilities:
- Perform first-article, in-process, and final inspections of manufactured components using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and bore gauges.
- Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications, including GD&T requirements.
- Accurately record inspection findings, generate detailed inspection reports, and maintain organized quality documentation.
- Identify, document, and report nonconforming materials or parts, and assist with root cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Conduct supplier incoming inspections and first-piece evaluations.
- Support and manage Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) requirements.
- Monitor and evaluate supplier quality performance.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Inspect various weld types (MIG, TIG, spot, and stud) to verify quality, technique, and compliance with print specifications.
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections in accordance with job packets, travelers, procedures, and the Workmanship Manual.
- Inspect incoming raw materials and components from outside services and suppliers.
- Complete final inspections to ensure all operations meet internal and customer specifications.
- Document and communicate deviations or nonconformances, coordinating with Project Managers and Supervisors as needed.
- Complete required documentation for job closure.
- Process and track scrap and nonconforming materials.
- Recommend process improvements and promote safe work practices among operators.
- Verify and maintain accurate part counts.
- Maintain and calibrate inspection fixtures, gauges, and measuring equipment to ensure measurement accuracy.
Communication:
- Communicate regularly with internal teams, customers, and suppliers via phone and email, ensuring clarity and consistency.
- Demonstrate a proactive, positive, and solution-oriented attitude.
Required Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Four years experience in a fabrication position. May be a combination of schooling and on-the-job experience.
- Experience with all aspects of welding (Creation, Inspection, Testing). AWS Certification desired, but not mandatory.
