The American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC) is the collective spirit and unifying voice of our nation's tribal colleges and universities (TCUs). AIHEC supports American Indian and Alaska Native higher education through dedicated research and programmatic initiatives designed to strengthen Indigenous languages, cultures, and Tribal communities. By leveraging its unique position, AIHEC serves as a collaborative partner, providing essential services to member institutions and emerging TCUs. Additionally, AIHEC produces the Tribal College Journal (TCJ), a premier national publication sharing insights on American Indian education.Position SummaryThe Data & Visualization Analyst fosters a data-informed culture within AIHEC and its member Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs). This role focuses on developing interactive dashboards, performing quantitative analyses, and creating visual narratives to support student success, executive decision-making, and strategic advocacy.This position will report to the Sr. Director of Member and Student Services.ResponsibilitiesData Visualization & Reporting: Design andmaintainuser-centered interactive dashboards and high-impact visual briefings for the AIHEC Board, Congress, and federal agencies.Analytics & Research: Analyze trends in enrollment, retention, and student outcomes; conduct benchmarking studies; and provide ad hoc analysis for strategic initiatives.Infrastructure & Governance: Support data collection systems, manage databases (e.g., IPEDS, PDP), andestablishdata governance policies to ensure security and integrity.Stakeholder Support: Partner with stakeholders to improve data literacy, provide training on decision-support systems, and develop/administer surveys via Qualtrics.QualificationsMinimum RequirementsEducation:Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, ora relateddiscipline.
Experience:Minimum of three years in higher education (Institutional Research or Effectiveness).Technical Skills:Proficiencyin Microsoft Office Suite and experience with budget/grant tracking.Must also be proficient in using:Visualization tools - Tableau, Power BI.Statistical software - R, Python, SAS, or SPSS.Relational databases and data systems - Alteryx, Jenzabar, Banner, etc.Competencies: Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills;ability to translatecomplex data for non-technical audiences;ability to work both independently and collaboratively.Professionalism: Commitment to ethical standards, detail-oriented project management, and a collaborative, team-oriented approachPreferred QualificationsExperience working in Indian Countryand/or with TCUs.Knowledge of Tribal Nation research issues.Proven ability to develop operational tools and proactive solutions.Physical Job RequirementsAbility to communicate information and ideas, detect,determine, perceive, andobservedetails, particularly on a screen or on paper.Ability to spend more thanhalfthe time viewing computer monitors.This position may requireremainingin astationary position 50% or more.Ability to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and in writing.
