As a Battery Validation & Test Engineer, you will lead the validation, testing, and integration of high-voltage battery systems for advanced BEV and electrified vehicle programs. This role is intended for a professional with at least 5 years of experience in battery systems validation, regulatory compliance, and test strategy development. You will serve as a technical authority supporting prototype and production programs, with hands-on responsibility for test planning, execution, data analysis, and cross-functional   technical leadership. 


Responsibilities:  

  • Lead battery system validation activities including performance, durability, safety, and regulatory compliance testing 
  • Develop and execute cell-, module-, pack-, and vehicle-level battery test plans aligned with OEM, UN, SAE, and IEC battery standards 
  • Support certification and compliance testing to applicable battery regulations and standards (e.g., UN 38.3, SAE J2464, SAE J2929, IEC 62660, IEC 61960, UL   2580) 
  • plan and support   battery abuse, environmental, vibration, and thermal propagation testing in   internal and external laboratories 
  • Oversee high-voltage instrumentation, safe handling, and commissioning of battery systems in laboratory and vehicle test environments 
  • Analyze battery data including voltage, current, temperature, insulation resistance, SOC/SOH, aging, and degradation trends 
  • Interface with BMS, thermal, EMC, controls, and vehicle integration teams to investigate issues and optimize battery system performance 
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and technical review support to engineers and technicians 
  • Prepare detailed test reports, technical reviews, compliance documentation, and customer-facing presentations 



Requirements:
  • 5+ years of   experience in lithium-ion battery systems, battery validation, or electrified   powertrain testing 
  • Strong understanding   of battery cell chemistry, module/pack architecture, BMS functionality, and HV safety concepts 
  • Hands-on experience   with battery test equipment including cyclers, environmental chambers, HV measurement systems, and DAQ 
  • Working knowledge of   global battery testing and safety standards (UN, SAE, IEC, UL) 
  • Demonstrated experience   leading validation activities and providing technical direction 
  • Vector CANape, CANalyzer, CANoe 
  • ETAS INCA, ATI Vision, HBK Perception 
  • MATLAB / Simulink for data analysis, automation, and modeling 
  • Experience with battery cyclers, insulation monitoring devices, HV interlock systems, and thermal measurement equipment 
  • Strong understanding of automotive networks (e.g., CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet) 

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience supporting EMC/EMI testing as it relates to battery systems, BMS, and high-voltage components 
  • Familiarity with   CISPR 25, ISO 11452, ISO 7637, and OEM-specific EMC requirements impacting battery packs and HV architectures 
  • Experience troubleshooting EMC-related issues such as conducted and radiated emissions, grounding, shielding, and cable routing 
  • Exposure to battery system design-for-EMC considerations and test support during vehicle-level EMC campaigns
