About the Role

We are looking for a sharp, adaptable Operational Accounting Lead to join our Finance team on a one-year contract, with strong potential for extension. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role sits at the heart of our day-to-day financial operations.

This is a highly operational role ideal for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, improving processes, and keeping the financial engine running smoothly in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

If you are energized by complexity, grounded under pressure, and known for getting the details right, you will likely feel at home here.

  • Manage payroll deductions, remittances, and statutory compliance
  • Maintain accurate, audit-ready payroll records and documentation

AR & AP Oversight

  • Oversee daily workflow, task prioritization, and quality control for AR and AP functions
  • Review transactions for accuracy, completeness, and correct GL coding
  • Troubleshoot and resolve escalated vendor and client issues
  • Step in to process invoices, billings, collections, and payment runs during peak periods
  • Drive collections follow-up and invoicing to support healthy cash flow
  • Ensure all transactional activity aligns with internal controls and company policies

Month-End & Financial Support

  • Complete balance sheet and account reconciliations
  • Prepare supporting schedules and working papers
  • Draft and post month-end journal entries
  • Partner closely with the Controller to support timely and accurate month-end close

  • Exposure to system implementations or data migrations is a strong asset
  • Background in project-based, construction, or environmental services environments is highly preferred

The Strengths You Bring

  • A practical problem-solver who doesn’t need micromanagement
  • Calm, adaptable, and solutions-focused in fast-changing environments
  • Highly detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership
  • Comfortable balancing leadership with hands-on execution
  • Clear, professional communicator who works well in a collaborative structure
