Production Employee - 1st Shift

The Production Employee will efficiently feed material into specified choppers and shredders, extract metals from the wire materials, and assemble the correct packaging while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Recognize and organize different grades of materials appropriately
2. Feed material into the chopper or shredder
3. Take inventory, maintain and organize material storage area and ensure area is always secure
4. Maintain a clean working environment
5. Operate mobile equipment safely and efficiently, as required
6. Perform daily preventative maintenance on mobile equipment, as required
7. Follow dress code and ensure proper PPE is worn at all times

Job Requirements/Skills

1. Knowledge of Non-Ferrous and Ferrous metals
2. Ability to sort materials by hand or using hand tools
3. Ability to shovel materials
4. Ability to work independently in the absence of direct supervision

Education/Experience

1. Material handling and sorting
2. Forklift experience preferred

Physical Requirements

1. Standing for long periods of time
2. Able to lift 50 lbs. continuously
3. Able to shovel heavy materials
4. Tolerate a dusty environment
5. Exposure to physical operations in scrap recycling facilities, including walking/climbing in active industrial yards with uneven surfaces in inclement weather
