Nexus Family Healing is looking to hire a Milieu Supervisor to join our outstanding team in Onarga, IL!


Nexus Family Healing is located approximately 30 miles south of Kankakee and 45 miles north of Champaign-Urbana, just a few miles off of I-57 on a historic site in Onarga, IL. 


Nexus Family Healing provides boys ages 10 to 20 years old a structured, homelike environment where they can safely address a variety of unhealthy behaviors and mental health issues as well as childhood trauma.  Nexus Onarga youth attend our onsite private, therapeutic Grand Prairie School which offers special education with small classes for grades 5th-12th.

Pay and Schedule:

  • Full-time in-person opportunity
  • Location: 110 North Locust, Onarga, IL 60955
  • Starting at $57,000-60,000 per year!
  • 2 evening shifts a week, rotating schedule

Position Summary: The Milieu Supervisor is responsible to provide trauma-informed milieu leadership and mentorship in the treatment guidance plans through effective communication, organization, and planning of the daily operations of the program and assigned unit. 


Key Responsibilities:


Trauma-Informed Program Operations

  • Create and manage staff schedules to ensure safe ratios and smooth daily operations.
  • Support planning of trauma-informed programming, family time, transportation, and special events.
  • Ensure staff interactions with youth are calm, therapeutic, and aligned with trauma-informed practices.
  • Support development and implementation of youth guidance plans.

Documentation & Treatment Planning

  • Ensure all shift, client, and staff documentation is accurate, timely, and properly communicated.
  • Help develop procedures that support safe, effective service delivery.
  • Identify risks, propose solutions, and support long-term program improvements.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning for youth.

Admissions & Service Coordination

  • Ensure new youth and families experience a safe, welcoming admission process.
  • Monitor service delivery to support youth and family engagement.
  • Track youth daily needs (clothing, dietary, appointments, family contact) and ensure timely follow-through.
  • Assign and guide “primary” Youth Care Professionals to support individual youth.
  • Participate in hiring and selecting trauma-informed, strengths-based staff.

Staff Leadership & Supervision

  • Mentor and onboard new Youth Care Professionals.
  • Provide floor coverage as needed and respond effectively to program needs.
  • Deliver ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure accurate timekeeping and collaborate with HR and clinical leadership on performance and disciplinary matters.

Policy, Safety & Compliance

  • Model Nexus philosophy and trauma-informed treatment approaches.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and compliance with privacy policies.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and address concerns promptly.
  • Stay current with all required trainings, certifications, and organizational policies.
Requirements:

Required Education and Licensure:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.  
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a related industry.   
  • Minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience required. 
  • Valid driver’s license required. Must meet state regulating agency and Home Office driving requirements 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a clinically related field preferred.  
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with clients and families preferred. 

Physical demands:

  • Maybe required to assist staff in proper restraining of clients. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100+ pounds with assistance. 
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time (2-4 hours).

Salary Information

$57000.00 - $60000.00 Annual Salary
