Skilled Nursing Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Position Summary
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides high-quality, person-centered care to residents in the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF). Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, and Charge Nurses, the CNA supports residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), monitors well-being, and helps maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
This role is essential to the resident experience. It requires patience, professionalism, and empathyparticularly when working with individuals who may have complex medical needs. The CNA ensures that care is delivered with dignity, respect, and alignment with Legacy Pointes Service Excellence standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Upholds resident rights, safety, dignity, and privacy at all times.
Responds promptly and courteously to call lights, alarms, bells, and resident requests.
Assists residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, mobility, and other ADLs.
Accurately documents care, observations, and tasks in the medical record.
Sets up, serves, and collects meal trays; provides feeding support as needed.
Transports residents safely or assists with walking and the use of mobility devices.
Turns and repositions residents to help prevent pressure injuries.
Makes beds, maintains clean and orderly resident rooms, and performs light housekeeping as needed.
Obtains and records vital signs, weights, intake/output, and other measurements as directed.
Prepares, cleans, restocks, and stores equipment, supplies, and treatment trays.
Assists visitors and families in a courteous, professional manner.
Runs errands, answers phones, and supports daily resident routines.
Contributes positively to team communication, cooperation, and workflow.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.
One year of experience in a care or clinical setting preferred; or a combination of training and experience.
Active Florida CNA certification required.
Current CPR/AED certification required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Clear and respectful verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret care plans, safety instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write simple reports and complete documentation accurately.
Basic math skills used in measuring, charting, and recording data.
Ability to use sound judgment and follow written and verbal instructions.
Experience with electronic charting systems (PointClickCare preferred).
Comfort using computers, tablets, email, and web-based tools.
Ability to remain patient, compassionate, and supportive with older adults, including those with cognitive or physical impairments.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative care team.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
Works primarily indoors in a climate-controlled environment.
