Summary: The Student Success Coordinator at Aveda Institute New Mexico is a pivotal role dedicated to supporting our students from enrollment to graduation. This position ensures students achieve academic, personal, and professional success by monitoring attendance and grades, providing proactive interventions, and fostering an engaging and inclusive learning environment. The Coordinator will collaborate with instructors, staff, and students to create a culture of success and contribute to our mission of educating the next generation of beauty and wellness professionals.


Key Responsibilities:

Student Support and Retention:

  • Monitor and analyze attendance and grades to identify at-risk students.
  • Provide one-on-one support to students facing academic, personal, or professional challenges.
  • Develop and execute retention strategies to enhance student engagement and persistence.
  • Act as the primary resource for students needing additional support, including referrals to counseling, financial aid, or other resources.

Program Coordination:

  • Collaborate with instructors to address student progress and develop intervention plans. Work closely with the Admissions Representative and Career Services to facilitate externship placements and career readiness.
  • Plan and implement workshops, events, and activities that promote student success, such as time management, professional development, and study skills.

Data Management and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including attendance, grades, and intervention outcomes.
  • Generate reports to track retention, engagement, and academic success metrics.
  • Use data to inform and refine retention and student success strategies.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Act as a liaison between students, instructors, and administrative staff to address concerns and celebrate successes.
  • Regularly communicate with students to provide updates, encouragement, and guidance tailored to their individual needs.
  • Promote a positive, supportive school culture aligned with Aveda Institute New Mexico’s mission and values.

Requirements

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in student advising, academic support, or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in student information systems (SIS) and data tracking tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred:

  • Experience in the beauty or wellness industry.
  • Knowledge of retention strategies and best practices in student engagement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect with diverse student populations.
