Skilled Unit Manager (RN) Monday - Friday Dayshift

About this position

This front-line position is in charge of the day-to-day nursing operation of our skilled unit. Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Skilled Unit Manager is responsible for internal and external customer (resident/family) satisfaction, quality of care, supervision of personnel, and compliance of Federal, State, and local regulations in accordance with industry standards.

  • Manage the Orchards Unit in Healthcare (skilled care unit)
    • Assist floor staff with daily operations as needed
    • Oversee the care of all residents within the unit and assist staff to meet desired needs
      • Attend resident care conferences or work with social services to present information
    • Assist staff with admissions/discharges and review all for accuracy and completeness
      • Monitor hospital readmissions and collaborate with our ACO networks
      • Assist with discharge planning
    • Manage the Orchards staff and oversee their needs
    • Liaison for family members
    • Provide guidance to team members to ensure smooth continuity of care
    • Navigate a fast-paced work environment
    • Attention to detail when reviewing clinical admissions, medical charts, documentation, and care plans
  • Collaborate with DON/ADON on quality measures and outcomes
  • Learns and assists with the QAPI process on an ongoing basis
  • Conducts audits as needed
  • Insurance Education
    • Navigate relationships with ACO representatives
    • Have a strong understanding of insurance (process with Traditional Medicare versus managed care insurances)
    • Comfort with clinical updates, reviews, NOMNC's, appeal process





Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited RN Program/BSN preferred
  • Must possess a current RN license in the State of Ohio/Certification in Gerontology is preferred
  • Knowledge of healthcare management practices and State, Federal and long-term care rules and regulations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong managerial skills
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal regulations, Medicare and Medicaid certification
  • Experience in Clinical Nursing
