Position Summary: Responsible for safe and timely delivery of pigs on scheduled days.  


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safely drives truck and trailer to and from specified locations. 
  • Loads pigs onto trailer and unloads pigs at scheduled location with care and concern for the welfare and quality of the animal. 
  • Sweeps shavings per shareholders’ direction. 
  • Fuels and prepares truck and trailer for next load prior to entering the wash. 
  • Manages maintenance, service and inspection of truck and trailer through Fleet Supervisor. 
  • Maintains a safe, secure, and bio-secure location to store truck and trailer (for remote staff). 
  • Prioritizes workload in efficient manner. 
  • Documents and maintains accurate mileage sheets, pre-trip inspection, log books when applicable, and other paperwork as needed. 
  • Checks routinely and maintains trailer brakes, battery and breakaway device. 
  • Some sites are responsible for washing, disinfecting, and drying truck, cab and trailer after each load to ensure disease-free equipment, subject to inspection and possible rewashing, disinfecting and drying. Follows truck wash protocol consistently. 
  • Cleans truck wash as instructed 

Working Conditions: Work is performed outside of the hog confinement and in the truck. Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours. Hours average 40-45 hours per week. There will be some variation in work hours due to animal care and health, weather, employee shift schedules, special projects, and other concerns. May have an occasional overnight. 

Requirements:
  • Maintains a valid and insurance approvable CDL class A license
  • Holds a current medical card per DOT guidelines
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, bend, stoop, push, pull, stand, walk, sit 
  • Able to work on hands and knees for extended periods of time 
  • Maintains compliance with Animal Welfare Policies and reporting procedures. 
  • Current TQA certification as stated under current Company policies 
  • Able to operate power washer. 
  • Work effectively and proactively with a variety of personalities and be a team player. 
  • Work effectively, calmly and respectfully with live animals  
  • Must have strong cleanliness habits at all times. 
  • Must display a professional image through verbal communication and actions. 
  • Follows protocols as given.
