Summary
The Fabricator I is an entry-level position responsible for learning and performing basic fabrication tasks in a safe, efficient, and productive manner. This role emphasizes safety awareness, fundamental machine operation, proper tool usage, and adherence to quality standards.
Essential Job Functions:
- Understand and follow all job site safety rules and regulations.
- Identify potential hazards and take appropriate action to prevent accidents.
- Report unsafe conditions or incidents promptly.
- Develop situational awareness and recognize early signs of potential safety risks.
- Demonstrate accurate measurement using a standard measuring tape.
- Apply correct mathematical concepts and terminology to ensure precise cutting and fitting.
- Interpret fractional and decimal measurements as required by job specifications.
- Gain familiarity with basic shop equipment and their operational purposes.
- Understand and apply safe startup, operation, and shutdown procedures.
- Learn preventive maintenance practices for commonly used fabrication machines.
- Operate equipment responsibly, ensuring proper mounting and movement of attachments.
- Properly use, maintain, and store hand tools, including drills, taps, and saws.
- Identify the types of hand tools and their specific purposes.
- Conduct pre-use inspections to ensure tool safety and functionality.
- Recognize and mitigate hazards associated with hand tool use.
- Learn the appropriate hardware used in product assembly.
- Assemble components accurately, minimizing incidents such as hardware damage.
- Keep tools and hardware organized and accounted for at all times.
- Understand the basics of machine setup and operation.
- Assist with customizing machines for specific tasks when needed.
- Maintain machine cleanliness and surface integrity.
- Recognize the importance of sterilization and daily upkeep to avoid performance issues.

Educational & Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Dexterity and good hand-eye coordination, with the ability to manipulate and assemble very large and extremely small components.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods of time and perform repetitive tasks, such as climbing ladders and bending often.
