Position/Title:  Optometrist

Reporting/Department Head: Chief Medical Officer

MAJOR FUNCTION: 

Responsibilities

  • Perform      comprehensive eye and vision tests
  • Diagnose      defects of the eye, such as myopia, astigmatism and glaucoma
  • Provide      personalized temporary and permanent solutions to sight issues based on      each patient’s specific case and medical history
  • Prescribe      medications, and eyeglasses 
  • Advise      patients on proper eye care techniques
  • Keep      updated and accurate medical records for all patients
  • Book      next appointments in cases where re-examination is required
  • Refer      eye doctors and ophthalmologists when patients need to undergo a surgery      or in cases of severe eye injuries

Requirements and skills

  • Work      experience as an Optometrist
  • In-depth      understanding of eye conditions and vision defects
  • Hands-on      experience with eye examination tools, such as ophthalmoscope and      tonometer
  • The      ability to explain medical terms simply and calmly
  • Attention      to detail
  • Degree      in Optometry

Provides referral and case management.

· Refers patients to internal resources according to program standards, protocol, or physician consultation

· Refers patients for specialty care as per program standards, protocol, or physician consultation

· Refers patients to primary care as appropriate

· Follows up on referrals according to site specific standards

  • Case manages client care      according to program standards and patients plan of care

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Unrestricted license to practice as an Optometrist from the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs 

· Employee shall maintain registration including prescriptive authority

· Maintain Board Certification, as applicable

· Maintain Active CPR approved by American Heart Association

· Ability to stand, swift waling, lifting, moving patients as needed

Salary Information

$130000.00 - $160000.00 Annual Salary
