Key Responsibilities:<ul style="padding-left: 2rem; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 3pt; color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;"><li>Civil 3D Design & Drafting – Create detailed construction drawings, including plans, profiles, sections, and details for transportation, water, sewer, and storm drainage projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D.</li><li>Technical Support & Collaboration – Assist engineers, the Design Technician Manager, and other technical staff with design and drafting tasks while providing technical information to internal teams and the public.</li><li>Topographic Review & Field Verification – Analyze survey base maps, review as-builts and utility records, and conduct field investigations to ensure design accuracy and completeness.</li><li>Engineering Calculations & Quantity Takeoffs – Perform technical calculations related to civil infrastructure design and assist with cost estimation by conducting quantity takeoffs for capital improvement projects.</li><li>Standards Compliance & Document Management – Ensure designs align with City standards and regulations while maintaining accurate project records and utilizing tools like Bluebeam and Microsoft Office for documentation.</li></ul> While these duties may be a primary focus of this job, the full job description includes a more comprehensive list of responsibilities.  <a href="https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/auburn/classspecs/90627?keywords=ENGINEERING%20DESIGN%20Tech" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Click here</a> to review the class specification.
We are looking for candidates who have:<ul style="padding-left: 2rem; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 3pt; color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;"><li>A blend of education and experience, including two (2) years college-level course work in civil engineering and drafting combined with Three (3) years of hands-on experience civil engineering design and drafting experience using Civil Engineering Design Software. Candidates should posses advanced expertise and knowledge of computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) software, proficiency in the most versions of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D. </li></ul> Note: Additional experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a year for year basis.  Licenses & Certifications<ul style="padding-left: 2rem; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 3pt; color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;"><li>Possess and retain a valid state driver’s license without impending loss at time of appointment.</li></ul>
