Shop Supervisor

Job Summary:

Light's Welding, located in Annville, PA, is part of GSM Industrial, a regional leader since 1983 in industrial fabrication, installation and mechanical contracting.  Light's Welding is seeking a Shop Supervisor.  The Shop Supervisor is directly involved in fabrication and day-to-day supervision of the shop floor. Schedules and directs work and ensures all employees have a safe working environment and are following all safety rules/policies. Ensures compliance of KPIs: Safety, Quality, Cost, On-Time Delivery and People. Influences all employees to meet or exceed expectations. 

This position is Safety-Sensitive and includes tasks or duties that could affect the safety and health of the employee performing the task or others. These tasks and duties include, but are not limited to operating: material handling equipment, motorized vehicles, welding equipment, fabrication machinery, power tools, working at height over four feet and working in confined spaces (or as prescribed by OSHA).

• Perform hands-on metal fabrication tasks, including cutting, welding, grinding, bending and assembly
• Supervise and coordinate daily work assignments for shop employees
• Collaborate with Project Managers on scheduling, job planning and workflow improvements
• Schedule and assign jobs to shop employees, providing details and expectations
• Monitor work progress and ensure jobs are completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with specifications
• Inspect materials, finished products, and work processes for compliance with quality standards
• Assure that equipment is maintained in good, safe working order, report equipment issues, material shortages, or production delays to management
• Maintain a safe working environment, and ensure that facility is secured when unoccupied
• Provided on-the-job training, mentorship, and support to fabricators and apprentices

Qualifications:

• Minimum of High School Diploma or GED and (5) years’ experience in this or a related field OR a combination or other equivalent training/experience
• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints and shop instructions
• Proficient with fabrication tools and machinery
• Proven understanding of shop safety practices and OSHA standards
• Good communication, organizational and computer skills
• Must be able to lift @50 lbs.
