About the Role

Precision Manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Lead Estimator to own our quoting process and

help us deliver accurate, competitive, and timely quotations for precision-machined

components. This role works closely with Sales, Programming, Operations, and

Purchasing to ensure every quote reflects realistic costs, achievable lead times, and our

company’s margin targets. This critical highly visible role directly affects profitability, customer satisfaction, and

operational success.


Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and accurate quotes based on customer drawings, specifications, and

requirements.

• Develop complete job routers outlining manufacturing processes, operations, tooling,

and sequencing.

• Collaborate with Outside Sales to understand customer priorities, target pricing, and

competitive considerations.

• Work with Programming and Operations to validate cycle times, machining capabilities,

setups, and production feasibility.

• Partner with Purchasing to secure current material pricing and outside processing (OSP)

quotes (heat treat, plating, grinding, etc.).

• Coordinate with Inside Sales to confirm requirements and align on delivery

commitments.

• Maintain the company quote log; participate in weekly review meetings to track quote

status, win/loss ratios, and turnaround metrics.

• Identify opportunities for cost reduction, value engineering, or alternative methods

during the quoting phase.

• Improve quoting accuracy by refining templates, standard costs, and historical data.

• Support job handoff by ensuring routers, BOMs, and OSP requirements are complete

for Production Planning.


Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in CNC machining estimating/quoting (precision machining

strongly preferred).

• Strong knowledge of machining processes, GD&T, materials, and outside processing

requirements.

• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and customer specifications.

• High analytical capability and strong attention to detail.

• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel. Experience with Global Shop

or JobBOSS is a plus.

• Proven cross-functional collaboration skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Self-driven with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple quotes

simultaneously.

• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel domestically (10–20%).

$80000.0 - $85000.0 Annual Salary
