Position Summary

The EVS Tech cleans and services all areas of the building, to include all off-site facilities, moves furniture, equipment, and supplies throughout the hospital departments according to established procedures. He/She will perform a variety of services to maintain the hospital in a neat, orderly, and sanitary condition.

Functions of the Position

The following functions are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all

duties performed by the position recipient:

  • Clean assigned areas by washing furniture, tile, fixtures, vents, patient television and windows using germicidal solution. Sweep and mop floor areas, dust and damp mop patient rooms, vacuum carpets, and spot clean carpet. Clean all blinds, window curtains, and cubicle curtains in all patient rooms (including isolation room). Operate various types of cleaning equipments, both mechanical and electrical. 
  • Select cleaning material and supplies/prepare germicidal solutions according to procedures. Load service carts and transport to work area. Clean all bathrooms, (patient, private, public) disinfecting all fixtures, floors and walls as directed. Clean mirrors and replenish bathroom supplies.
  • Collect waste from all areas of the hospital and sanitize all trash cans. Collect hazardous waste as established by Infection Control Committee. Transport all hazardous waste to pick up area.
  • Perform terminal cleaning of patient rooms as quickly as possible to avoid long waits for the next patient, assuring everything is sanitized by notifying nurse is ready for occupation.
  • Clean movable furniture and stationery furnishings. Clean all shelves and ledges.
  • Return all unused supplies to supply room, clean carts, and equipment. Ensure all items are replaced in an orderly manner. Notify team lead when supply levels are low and when equipment needs repair.
  • Transport clean linens and remove soiled linens from departments. Replenish linen closet.
  • Hospital laundry special itmes in washer and dryer on premises, such as cleaning clothes, mop heads, pillow covers and restraints. Fold and deliver to department.
  • Support and participate in quality initiatives as required.
  • Attend hospital in-service programs and department meetings.
  • Adhere to hospital and department policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to Dosher Memorial Hospital’s proper dress code which includes 
  • the wearing of name badges.
  • Maintain a professional rapport with patients, visitors, doctors, staff, and 
  • other departments.
  • Demonstrate maturity and accountability for job performance. Support the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the Department(s) and assess areas of personal and professional growth.
  • Adhere to Dosher Memorial Hospital’s Standards of Behavior.
  •  Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school graduate or equivalent 

Necessary skills:

  • Ability to comprehend and following instructions
  • Familiarity with Regulatory Standards
  • Must complete the required education for the Hip & Knee Replacement (HKRPC) as required per policy 
  • Maintain strictest confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations
  • Ability for rapid mental/muscular coordination simultaneously

 Physical Demands:

  • Constant standing or walking, sometimes in a confined space
  • Lifting/carry up to 50 lbs
  • Push/Pull heavy equipment up to 100 lbs
  • Repetitive twisting and pressure involving hand and finger mobility
  • Reaching at all levels
  • Stooping, bending, kneeling, or crouching
  • Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens
  • Handling cleaning chemicals
  • Working around machinery with moving parts
  • Sometimes, subject to dust or fumes
  • Work inside and out (subject to extreme weather conditions)

Protective Equipment Required:

  • Safety glasses
  • Occasional use of rubber gloves or hearing protection
