POSITIONOVERVIEW:

MercerCounty is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Part-Time Building ServiceWorker to support the cleaning and upkeep of County buildings and facilities.Under direction, the Building Service Worker performs a variety of routine andessential custodial tasks to maintain clean, sanitary, and orderly environmentsfor employees, residents, and visitors. This part-time role is critical tosupporting safe, welcoming, and well-maintained public facilities across theCounty.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cleansoffices, storerooms, corridors, stairways, dormitories, hospital rooms orwards, and other assigned areas.
  • Sweeps,dry mops, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors using brooms, mops, lightweightvacuum cleaners, and floor scrubbers or buffers.
  • Dusts,waxes, and polishes furniture, ledges, and woodwork.
  • Emptieswastebaskets and disposes of trash in designated areas.
  • Polishesdoor knobs and other metal fixtures.
  • Cleans,disinfects, and deodorizes restrooms, including lavatories, urinals, toiletbowls, mirrors, sinks, and water fountains.
  • Replacesrestroom supplies such as toilet tissue, hand towels, soap, and deodorizers.
  • Maintainsrestrooms in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition.
  • Notesfacility conditions and reports maintenance issues such as broken windows,water leaks, or clogged drains to a supervisor.
  • Keepscleaning supplies and equipment stocked and in usable condition and notifies asupervisor when materials or repairs are needed.
  • Performsrelated duties as assigned to support facility operations.
REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicantsmust be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Applicantsmust be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Appointeeswill be required to possess a valid New Jersey driver's license only ifoperation of a vehicle is necessary to perform the essential duties of theposition.
KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Ability toperform routine custodial and cleaning tasks in accordance with establishedprocedures.
  • Ability tosafely use cleaning materials, supplies, and lightweight equipment.
  • Ability tomaintain clean, orderly, and sanitary environments.
  • Ability toobserve and report facility maintenance issues.
