SUMMARY OF POSITION

SOFFA Electric, a well-established systems integration firm with over 50 years of experience, is seeking a Field Service Technician III that is a highly skilled professional responsible for managing complex control system installations, commissioning, and high-level troubleshooting in water and wastewater automation. Provides technical leadership and ensures compliance with all safety and technical standards.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and execute complex PLC/SCADA system installations and upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot advanced networked control systems and communication protocols.
  • Conduct full system commissioning, including SAT/FAT testing and documentation.
  • Coordinate with engineering, clients, and project managers to ensure successful deployments.
  • Deliver onsite customer training and technical support.
  • Mentor and train lower-level technicians.
  • Manage subcontractors and maintain documentation for all site work.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES REQUIRED

Experience: 5+ years of field experience with advanced PLC, SCADA, and telemetry systems.

Degree: Associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Automation, or a related field, or equivalent field experience.

Valid Drivers License

Certification(s) Required: OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Certification, NFPA 70E Arc Flash Certification, Confined Space Entry Certification, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Certification, TWIC Card (if required by client site).

ABILITIES REQUIRED:

BUSINESS

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Experience writing routine reports and correspondence
  • Experience speaking effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Must be available for emergency calls and regional travel.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and time management skills.

TECHNICAL

  • Expert knowledge of Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with radio, cellular, and Ethernet communications in SCADA systems.
  • Understanding and practicing AC/DC Voltage measurement
  • Understanding and practice of DC Current (4-20mA) measurement
  • Experience completing the required paperwork associated with instrumentation calibration duties
  • Experience reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Critical thinking skills with a proven ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and discretion
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted
  • Can perform Confined Space Work - Ability to enter into confined spaces
  • Can perform Elevated Work (Ladder/Lift) - Ability to climb ladders and stairs (at least 20 feet high) using proper safety equipment
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, and reach
  • Required to use various hand tools and calibration instruments
  • Noise level is typically low to medium in office; it can be loud on a job site
  • Ability to travel required - Regularly required to drive to job sites
  • Available for 24-hour on-call shifts
  • Intermittent Hotel stays during week
