STATUS: Part-Time (minimum of 24 hours per week, for 25 weeks ) 

SALARY: $20/hour

HOURS: 15–20 hours per week
DURATION: Summer 2026 (flexible start and end dates, 8 weeks)
LOCATION: Hybrid (1-day/week in office in New Haven, CT)


Are you curious about how social service organizations actually run behind the scenes? This paid summer internship offers hands-on experience supporting the Operations, Human Resources, and Finance functions of a mission-driven social services organization.

This role is a great fit for students who are pursuing degrees in (or considering careers in) nonprofit management, human resources, business, finance, public administration, or related fields; or anyone interested in building a career in the social services sector and wants exposure beyond direct service.

You’ll work closely with our Operations, Finance, and HR teams to contribute to meaningful projects, and gain practical experience that connects classroom learning to real-world nonprofit work.

What You’ll Do

Operations & Administrative Support

  • Provide assistance in documentation and record-keeping systems (policies, procedures, internal guides) improvements
  • Assist with general office and administrative support
  • Organize and maintain digital and physical files
  • Support short-term projects that improve how our organization functions day to day

Human Resources & Organizational Culture

  • Assist on planning organizational wellness initiatives
  • Assist with the development of an organizational employer brand 
  • Assist with HR-related tracking and administrative tasks

Learning Objectives

By the end of the internship, students will:

  • Understand how operations, HR, and finance support mission delivery in a social services organization
  • Gain exposure to people-centered HR practices
  • Build skills in documentation, systems improvement, and administrative best practices
  • Learn how nonprofits maintain accountability, compliance, and internal controls
  • Develop professional communication, time management, and confidentiality skills
  • Gain clarity about potential career paths within social services and nonprofit work

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable
  • Comfortable using digital tools (Google Workspace, spreadsheets, shared drives)
  • Able to handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion
  • Interested in learning how mission-driven organizations operate behind the scenes
