Role Overview
Note: This position is a REMOTE position.
The Category Manager plays a critical role in driving fact-based selling and category growth with key retail partners. This individual will leverage POS, shopper, and syndicated data to develop actionable insights that influence assortment, pricing, promotion, shelving, and innovation decisions.
This role requires strong analytical skills, business acumen, and the ability to translate data into compelling customer-facing stories. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of CPG experience in category management, sales analytics, and/or shopper insights.
Key Responsibilities
1. Category & Shopper Insights
Analyze POS and shopper data (e.g., Circana, retailer portals such as Scintilla or 84.51°)Identify trends in velocity, distribution, price gaps, and promotional performance with a retailer lensDevelop insights on shopper behavior, switching, and cross-purchase dynamicsMonitor competitive activity and emerging category trends2. Retailer-Focused Storytelling
Build customer-ready presentations grounded in data and insightsSupport line reviews, assortment decisions, and new item launchesPartner with Sales to develop fact-based selling materialsTranslate analytics into actionable recommendations3. Revenue Growth Support
Support pricing and promotional analysesEvaluate base vs promoted volumeAnalyze price gaps and competitive positioningContribute to post-event and assortment performance reviews4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Sales, RGM, Supply Chain, and MarketingEnsure alignment between category insights and go-to-market strategiesSupport innovation forecasting and distribution trackingQualifications
3–5 years of experience in CPG category management, sales analytics, or shopper insightsStrong experience with syndicated data (Circana preferred)Experience using retailer portals (e.g., Walmart Scintilla, Kroger 84.51°) preferredAdvanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data modeling)Power BI experience a plusExperience building PowerPoint presentations for external audiencesStrong communication and storytelling skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentExperience preparing for line reviews or joint business planning meetingsFamiliarity with assortment analytics and space optimization conceptsComfort working in ambiguous environments and building new processes
