Decision Technologies seeks a qualified BPS Radar Electronics / 2M Repair Technician to join our team in Virginia Beach, VA.
Position Description:
The candidate will perform technical support in the troubleshooting, repair, modification, and testing of submarine radar systems, with primary emphasis on AN/BPS-15 and AN/BPS-16. The position supports system-level and component-level repairs on a variety of electronic systems and components, including circuit card assemblies, cable assemblies, and electronic modules from shipboard, airborne, and ground-based platforms. While current support includes systems such as the AN/BPS-15, AN/BPS-16, AN/SPS-48, AN/SPS-67, AN/SPS-73, AN/SPS-80, and BridgeMaster-E (BME), candidates with experience in other radar, avionics, or military/industrial electronic systems are encouraged to apply. While experience in Miniature/Microminiature (2M) repair is a valuable secondary skill set, this role is radar-centric and intended for technicians with hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and validating radar systems. Work will be performed primarily in a lab environment, with occasional assignments onboard ships, submarines, or at land-based radar and test sites.
MUST HAVE SECRET CLEARANCE
Responsibilities and Duties:
· Troubleshoot, repair, and test AN/BPS-15 and AN/BPS-16 submarine radar systems at the system, subsystem, and LRU level.
· Plan and execute radar system upgrades and modifications, including configuration changes and field change implementation.
· Perform and document System Operational Verification Tests (SOVT) following repairs or upgrades.
· Maintain Engineering Development Models (EDMs) for radar testing, refurbishment validation, and field change development.
· Build/fabricate cables with multipin copper connector and fiber optic terminations.
· Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) from engineering specifications, technical drawings, and other technical documentation.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
· USN / USMC 2M/MTR training and/or certification
- Hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting military electronic systems, preferably submarine or shipboard radars.
· Ability to interpret and work from electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, technical manuals, and engineering documentation.
· Experience troubleshooting electronic systems to the component or Lowest Replaceable Unit (LRU) level.
· Skilled in cable fabrication, including soldering multipin copper connectors and terminating fiber optic cables.
· Knowledge of OSHA safety standards, including electrical safety, hazardous material handling, and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to generate technical reports and repair documentation.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and general computer use.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Desired Qualifications:
· Practical experience maintaining and troubleshooting AN/BPS-15, AN/BPS-16, AN/SPS-48, AN/SPS-67, AN/SPS-73, AN/SPS-80, BridgeMaster-E (BME) submarine, ship, or USMC surveillance radars using electronic test equipment including, but not limited to multimeters, power meters, and oscilloscopes.
· Familiarity with I-Level (Intermediate Level) maintenance practices, particularly in avionics or other military/industrial electronics environments.
· Fiber optic cable termination training and/or certification.
· Copper connector fabrication training and/or certification.
· Associates degree in technical field, Technical Certification, relevant US Navy NEC, or submarine electronics experience.

The pay range for this role is:
30 - 35 USD per hour(Virginia Beach)
