Fitness Floor Attendant

Overview of General Responsibilities:

The Safety and Security are primarily responsible for ensuring members and guests have a clean, positive and rewarding work out experience utilizing the equipment and accessories on the Fitness Floor while providing exceptional customer service to everyone. To be successful in this role, you need to have a natural desire to help anyone who asks but also to be observant and proactively offer to assist those who appear to need it.

Specific Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Safety Duties

o Do not use machines “out of service”.

o Address members who are not following Safety protocols.

o Remind members to clean equipment before and after use.

o Understanding how to safely spot someone whom is lifting heavy weights.

o Understand safety issues and response duties as outlined in the red binder mark Safety Manual.

  • Customer Service Duties
  • Help members with machines, exercises, general information about the Club and what we have to offer.
  • Engage members in conversation, help them enjoy their experiences at RVC.
  • Be knowledgeable about the personal training/club programs.
  • Adhere to, and enforce, Club rules and policies.
  • Fitness Floor and Equipment

o Keep cardio and strength equipment in proper positions and locations when not in use.

o Keep mats, stability balls, BOSU balls, and other specialized equipment clean.

o Keep dumbbells, lifting plates etc. in racks in proper order.

o Tidy counter, clean surface at least once a day.

o Make sure there are copies of all forms, including workout cards on clipboard table, Fitness floor desk area. Make copies as needed.

o Tidy clipboard area; file cabinets, make sure there are enough pens, pencils and workout cards for members.

  • General operational duties

o Learn how to operate TVs, satellites, and audio systems.

o Adjust music considering member comfort (volume, appropriateness of music, etc.).

o Storage area for dust mop, broom, dustpan, assorted equipment in need of repair.

o Sweep out daily, clean trash out if it accumulates.

o When needed, sweep, wet mop, dry mop, or vacuum between machines Dry Mop / vacuum; duties to include free weight area, cardio area, GTS.

o Clean vacuum cleaner of hair a dust as needed and replace dry mop covers after each use.

o Keep all mirrors and windows sparkling clean.

o Replace cleaning rags periodically as needed.

o Check to make sure spray bottles are filled with appropriate cleaning solutions.

o Report malfunctioning machines to Floor Manager and put a note in his box that it can be addressed.

o Refill dispensers as needed, fill gym wipes as needed.

o Assist as requested during any Safety or Emergency situation.

Additionally: This position may be asked to assist in other areas of RVC. Cooperation is assumed. All staff members work as a team to provide superior service that RVC bases its reputation on.

Salary Information

$15 - $16 Hourly Wage

Requirements

Skills and Qualifications:

We would encourage all Fitness Floor staff be CPR Certified or within 90 days of being hired

Ability to communicate effectively in sensitive situations

Familiar with the fitness equipment

Ability and willingness to adapt to changing demands

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Must be able to stand for entire shift

Must be able to kneel, squat, bend over

Must be able to lift/push/pull varying weight up to 75lbs

Must be able to hear and verbalize instruction

Must be able to use both arms and manipulate both hands and fingers

Noise level will vary
