About this position

Essential Functions:

  1. Develops, implements, and manages operating plans to promote program and/or membership growth for the YMCA. Executes strategies to ensure that members and/or program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA.
  2. Develops and controls department budgets related to the position.
  3. Hires, trains, and supervises staff and volunteers in assigned areas. Facilitates communication and provides leadership. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  4. Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign and volunteer committees/boards as assigned. Develops and maintains effective working relationships within the community.
  5. Assures compliance with state and local regulations. Ensures that program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
  6. Ensures high quality member-focused programs through innovative program development, evaluations and on going training of staff.
  7. Coordinates special events and activities.
  8. Provides data and reports as required for assigned programs.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, recreation management, or a related field.

  2. Minimum 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in program management, preferably in youth development, education, or community services

  3. Minimum 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience, including staff recruitment, training, and performance management

  4. Demonstrated experience in program planning, implementation, and evaluation

  5. Strong knowledge of child development, youth engagement strategies, and behavior management

  6. Ability to manage multiple sites or programs simultaneously

  7. Must meet all state licensing and regulatory requirements (e.g., DECAL in Georgia)

  8. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

  9. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends

 Preferred Qualifications: 

  1. Experience working in a school-age childcare or afterschool setting (YMCA experience a plus)

  2. Familiarity with grant management, budgeting, and outcome reporting

  3. Experience working with diverse populations and community stakeholders

  4. CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire)

  5. Knowledge of licensing regulations and accreditation standards (e.g., Bright from the Start, NAA)

  6. Bilingual abilities (Spanish/English) a plus
