The ZipRider Operator Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient, and guest-focused operation of the Icy Strait Point ZipRider—one of the world's longest and highest zip line rides. This role works under the direction of the Director of Excursions for daily tour and operations oversight and collaborates closely with the Mountain Operations Maintenance team to ensure mechanical safety and ride integrity. The Supervisor recruits, trains, and leads a seasonal crew of approximately 15 operators and leads, ensuring a consistently high level of guest satisfaction, team performance, and safety compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide daily leadership to the ZipRider team, including Leads and Operators
Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate a seasonal team of up to 15 employees
Foster a culture of safety, enthusiasm, and professionalism among the team
Ensure all ZipRider operations follow Icy Strait Point safety standards and procedures
Coordinate closely with the Mountain Operations Maintenance crew to maintain ride safety and report any mechanical concerns
Oversee guest loading, launching, and offloading procedures to ensure an exceptional visitor experience
Serve as the point of contact for operational issues, incidents, and escalated guest concerns
Monitor team performance and morale, coaching and developing employees to meet high standards
Maintain accurate logs and reports, including ride checks, incident reports, and staffing records
Collaborate with the Director of Excursions on guest service improvements, staffing needs, and performance metrics
Support the coordination of daily tour schedules, capacities, and logistics
Assist with other duties as assigned, including cross-training or support for other Excursions team roles
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Must be able to hike uneven terrain to the top of the ZipRider launch area
Must be comfortable working in outdoor mountain environments, often in varying weather conditions
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights
Flexible schedule required, including weekends, evenings, and holidays
Qualifications
Minimum 1–2 years of leadership experience, preferably in adventure tourism, attractions, or outdoor recreation
Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and motivate a team
Strong safety awareness and commitment to guest service excellence
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in fast-paced or emergency situations
First Aid/CPR certification preferred (or ability to obtain upon hire)
Familiarity with ride operations, zip line systems, or mechanical knowledge a plus
Must be at least 18 years of age
