We are seeking a high-performing, growth-minded NextGen Controller who is ready to step into executive financial leadership within 9–12 months. This is not a traditional back-office role. This is a strategic succession opportunity for an ambitious accounting leader prepared to build, optimize, and lead.

You will work directly with the Finance Director and current Controller, gaining mentorship while taking ownership of critical accounting functions immediately.

What You’ll Do

Financial Leadership & Reporting

  • Own the monthly close process across multiple healthcare entities.

  • Prepare and oversee consolidated GAAP financial statements.

  • Lead reconciliations, accruals, and multi-entity reporting structures.

  • Ensure accurate, timely financial reporting for executive leadership.

Operational Oversight

  • Oversee purchasing, accounts payable, and payroll functions.

  • Strengthen controls to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.

  • Establish scalable workflows that support national growth.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategic Analysis

  • Lead budgeting and forecasting initiatives across business lines.

  • Conduct variance analysis and deliver actionable financial insights.

  • Build financial models to support expansion, capital planning, and operational decisions.

Systems, Process & Infrastructure Development

  • Drive ERP enhancements, automation initiatives, and reporting improvements.

  • Implement scalable accounting systems that support multi-state operations.

  • Identify and execute process improvements to increase visibility and control.

Audit, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Manage internal and external audits.

  • Ensure compliance with multi-state financial reporting and regulatory requirements.

  • Oversee fixed assets, capital projects, and related accounting schedules.

Team Leadership & Succession Preparation

  • Mentor and develop accounting and AP staff.

  • Establish accountability standards and performance expectations.

  • Prepare to assume full Controller responsibilities within 9–12 months.

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience (Assistant Controller or Controller-level experience preferred).

  • Strong GAAP expertise and experience in multi-entity or multi-location environments.

  • Advanced knowledge of purchasing, accounts payable, and payroll operations.

  • Extremely advanced Excel skills (financial modeling, dashboards, automation, scenario analysis).

  • ERP proficiency (NetSuite, Dynamics, Sage, or similar platforms).

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, build systems, and operate in growth environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA strongly preferred.

  • Healthcare, laboratory, pharmacy, or real estate accounting experience.

  • Experience supporting private equity-backed or high-growth organizations.
