Candidate Qualifications
A 2-year college degree in accounting or business OR significant practical business experience is preferred. Hospitality experience is preferred and helpful, but not necessary.Minimum of two years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, including Inventory, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reportsFamiliarity with generally accepted accounting principles and payrollExceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detailStrong proficiency in financial management systems, general ledger software and Inventory Control software (club management software experience a plus, the club uses Jonas, QuickBooks and Yellow Dog)Must be highly proficient in Microsoft ExcelA career path without unexplained employment gaps. About the Position
Maintains journals, checks registers, bank reconciliations, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventories, general journal, payroll and personnel files, and various tax reports.Maintains Yellow Dog inventory system, processing food & beverage and hotel supply invoices, updating and tracking prices, generating count sheets and finalizing inventory after month end count is complete.Produces reports including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and monthly financial statements.Conduct periodic reconciliations of all accounts.Prepares and makes bank deposits.Reconciles all bank statements.Maintains an orderly accounting and filing system.Audits and pays all club bills and invoices after approval for payment.Maintains employees’ time and attendance, absentee and leave records.Administers the billing and collection of membership dues.Answers members’ questions regarding billing.Maintains accurate records of vendor invoices.Bookkeeping in QuickBooks for 2 smaller entities complete through financial statementsAssists in the preparation of other accounting reports and helps CFO as necessary.Generates point-of-sale (POS) reports from revenue centers.Completes other appropriate assignments made by the CFO or PresidentWestbrook History and Amenities
Westbrook, A Diamond in the Rough Inc., is a modernized, for-profit transformation of the former member-owned Westbrook Country Club, originally founded in 1901. In 2022 the Club was purchased by a single owner as part of a new hospitality organization. The owner is investing millions in capital and operating dollars to create a one-of-a-kind golf and recreational experience in the region. The new organization encompasses the former club’s Donald Ross designed golf course; a spectacular new clubhouse and boutique hotel; a newly constructed banquet/events center which will be the premier facility in the region; a recently completed swimming and F & B outlet; on-site high-end condominiums; and an off-site Sky Club at the local private airport that is operated by the owner. This position has growth potential as other Club operations expand over the next few years.
