Communications & Marketing Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:
- Supports Lehigh Valley Public Media's (LVPM) communications and marketing efforts by executing multi-platform strategies to build brand awareness, engage the community, and share impactful stories.
- Manages social media accounts for all LVPM brands and initiatives to support audience growth, engagement, and revenue generation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains and enforces LVPM brand and voice guidelines to ensure consistency and professionalism across all communications.
- Manages social media publishing and engagement for PBS39 (WLVT), 91.3 WLVR, LehighValleyNews.com, and PBS39 Education.
- Leads monthly reporting and insights gathering – follower growth, reach, engagement, and conversions – and provides actionable insights.
- Collaborates with the sponsorship and partnership teams to ensure social media deliverables are executed accurately and on time.
- Assists external communications; drafts press releases and media pitches, collaborates on newsletter or donor messaging, and writes copy for a variety of formats (social, web, email, print).
- Responds promptly and professionally to social media comments, messages, and mentions to foster community engagement and loyalty.
- Supports other communications and marketing efforts as assigned.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Ensures all content and collateral aligns with LVPM brand values, promotes department equity, and tells engaging, high-quality stories. Which increases social media viewership by 10%.
- Sources, creates, and manages multimedia social content (text, images, video, livestreams) consistently, targeting three (3) to five (5) posts per week per account.

- SKILLS:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities
- Familiarity with CMS tools or email marketing platforms is a plus
- Familiarity with accessible design principles is a plus
- KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn), tools, and best practices
- Awareness of traditional and digital marketing trends
- Experience writing and distributing press releases
- EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience (including rigorous internship) in communications, marketing, or public relations
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or equivalent work experience

OTHER WORK REQUIREMENTS:
- May be asked to work longer hours and occasional weekends with short notice.
- As you will/may be driving a company vehicle or your own vehicle for company business, a valid driver's license and a good driving record as determined by a driver's license background check is required for this position.
- All team members must successfully pass a background check (7 years), FBI fingerprint clearance, and PA child clearance.
Salary Information
$50000 - $55000
