Impact Summary:
As a Quality Inspector II, you will be responsible for ensuring that aerospace parts and components meet company, customer, and industry quality standards. You will perform inspections at various stages of production, ensuring compliance with AS9100 and requirements. Your attention to detail and commitment to quality will directly contribute to the success and safety of our aerospace products. Through collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams, the Quality Inspector II contributes to risk mitigation, audit readiness, and overall quality system effectiveness.
Responsibilities:
- Proficient with reading and understanding complicated blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications and geometric dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
- Responsible for receiving, in-process and final inspection of production parts to ensure conformance to company, customer, and industry requirements.
- Ensures that all required process operations have been performed on the product and it conforms to purchasing order requirements, engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications: process standards and specifications per customer as required.
- Performs first article inspections process and documentation.
- Performs source inspections as required by customers and completes all associated documentation.
- Receives and inspects supplier parts for compliance with required process, certification, and any other required paperwork. Documents and reports on all discrepancies.
- Conduct in-process and final inspection of product to ensure it meets the specifications per work order for end-item shipment.
- Accept or reject materials or articles; identify and document non-conformance and notify appropriate personnel of potential rejection of items.
- Maintain, document, control, and process nonconforming material to ensure containment and proper disposition.
- Responsible for management and documentation of inspection tooling calibration.
- Perform timely inspections in accordance with the priority listing and production schedules.
- Work with other departments within the organization to evaluate discrepancies.
- Recognize and correct potential process errors before actions adversely a?ect the customer.
- Responsible for the maintenance of quality records that document the quality status of the material/product and provide necessary information and cumulative data for both internal and external customer responses.
- Be aware of and follow location and work center Safety and Security policies and procedures.
- Assists in site readiness and preparation for internal/external audits.
- Works closely with functional areas (e.g., manufacturing, quality control, supply chain) and ensures AS9100 compliance and inspection readiness with no lead time.
- Develops Non-Conformance Reports and Corrective/Preventive Action Reports (NCRs, C/PARs).
- Developing the policies and procedures for the QA department within our AS9100 QMS.
- Assists in tracking of key performance metrics and participates in periodic reviews to ensure suitability and e?ectiveness of Quality Management System processes. Finds opportunities for improvement, as well as identi?cation and implementations of appropriate actions.
- Inspect, test, and collect samples during all phases of the manufacturing process.
- Follow internal quality standards and protocol.
- Other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Competencies:
- Technical Inspection Proficiency: Skilled in dimensional inspection using manual and CMM equipment; ability to inspect parts manufactured via machining, welding, or assembly.
- Blueprint and GD&T Literacy: Able to interpret blueprints, process specifications, and GD&T features (ASME Y14.5).
- Quality Systems Knowledge: Familiar with AS9100standards in aerospace environments.
- Problem Solving: Effective in identifying root causes and proposing corrective actions; working knowledge of RCA and CAPA tools.
- Communication: Strong documentation and verbal skills to clearly communicate findings, discrepancies, and suggestions.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/G.E.D.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience, preferably in aerospace manufacturing and testing environment.
- Signifcant background in manual and CMM inspections.
- High attention to detail and self-motivation.
- Must be well organized and be capable of moving between projects and functions.
- Familiar with all facets of inspection techniques, including CMM operation, a wide range of inspection and measuring tools, and surface plate set-ups, etc.
- Previous experience interpreting or using a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) (Polyworks Inspection preferred).
- Ability to perform dimensional inspections using standard manual inspection gauges (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, comparators, etc.).
- Previous experience performing and documenting first article inspections (FAI).
- Advanced mathematical calculations, geometry and trigonometry skills.
- Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ASME Y14.5).
- Use of electronic databases and electronic work instructions is a requirement as well as basic computer skills.
- Familiarity with, AS9100 standards.
- E?ective communication skills - oral and written.
- Must be a US Citizen, able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Physical Demands
· Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
· Utilize hand held tools required to perform tasks correctly and efficiently.
· This position may require frequent travel.

Salary Information:
The estimated salary range for this position will be $30.90 - $36.06 per hour based on the successful candidates experience, qualifications, skill set, and market conditions. Pay and Benefits are subject to change at any time and may be modified at the discretion of the company.
