ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE SPECIALIST JOB DESCRIPTION

Join our fast-paced trucking and warehousing company, where efficiency and teamwork drive our success. We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to support our financial operations and contribute to the smooth running of our business.

Position Overview 

As a member of our accounting team at Mercer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth functioning of our accounting processes. The Accounts Receivable Specialist will handle all aspects of the accounts receivable cycle, including invoicing, collections, and account reconciliation. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Responsibilities: 

  • Perform daily billing into accounting system for trucking and warehouse customers
  • Receiving of customer payments and accurately applying to customers’ accounts
  • Entry of daily deposit into online banking system
  • Troubleshoot/Reconciliation of customers’ accounts
  • Maintains and updates transactional logs, and various spreadsheets
  • Communicates with customers by phone, fax, and email
  • Performs and/or assists in the monthly billing process
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding invoices and payments promptly and professionally
  • Generate regular AR aging reports and assist in month-end closing processes
  • Maintain organized records of AR activities
  • Assists in various office projects
  • All other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

  • 1-year minimum experience in a warehouse/trucking company environment preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, and Quick Books
  • Must be able to setup and maintain Excel spreadsheets
  • Must possess excellent reasoning, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent phone skills & writing skills
  • Very organized, able to maintain files and retrieve information quickly
  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Requirements:

2-year associates degree in accounting preferred

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting (up to 20 lbs).
  • Navigating stairs and maintaining hand-eye coordination for data entry.

Other Requirements

  • Reliable transportation to and from the workplace.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Experience in the trucking and/or warehousing industry is a plus but not required.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday 8am-4:30pm. There may be some flexibility with hours.


Salary Information

$26.0 - $29.0 Hourly Wage
