We perform maintenance and modernization on all classes of major surface vessels, including CVN, CG, and DDG, as well as amphibious ships such as LHD, LHA, LSD, LPD, and auxiliary ships. Our work spans a full range of Combatant, Hull, Mechanical and Electrical, and Habitability systems, supporting the readiness and mission success of the U.S. Fleet.
Position Specifics
The Quality Assurance Manager 3 reports to the Vice President of Program Management and is responsible for ISO 9001:2015 registered Quality Management System (QMS), appointed by Executive Management as the ISO Management Representative. Serves as the focal point for all matters regarding CMSD’s QMS. Through coordination with the Executives at the Operational level, the Quality Assurance Manager 3 enhances effectiveness and brings presence, focus, and visibility to the overall Quality System.

- Supports and advise management in areas pertaining to ISO, the QMS and applicable military and industry standards as specified by contract.
- Establishes, designs, implements, and maintains written management systems based on customer requirements.
- Communicates on the performance of the Quality Management System.
- Communicates to the President and Vice President(s) on quality-related issues and make recommendations for improvement.
- Promotes awareness of customer requirements throughout the company.
- Participates in the interception of any quality management system issue or non-conformance.
- Identifies and acts on opportunities for improvement and other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensures processes are established, implemented, and maintained for all areas of the Quality Management System.
- Ensures audits of the Quality Management System are scheduled and completed.
- Resolves action items and process improvements identified during internal and external audits.
- Assists management in responding to queries, critiques, and general correspondence from internal and external customers. Investigate and represent organization at customer critiques and reviews.
- Provides Quality Management, Non-destructive Testing (NDT), technical research and overall Continuous Improvement Management services.
- Participates with customers in the development and improvement of standardized processes and formats for contractors, Q.A. workbooks and liaison activities.

- Ensures subordinates comply with all Health/Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures.
- Ensures subordinates demonstrate the highest standards of professional and ethical behavior, putting the company values and commitments at the forefront of decisions and actions.
- Identifies opportunities for continual improvement.
- Staff and control QA organization with qualified/competent employees based on assigned work to control QMS, provide inspection services, execute quality planning/scheduling functions, integrated testing and other duties as assigned.
- Provide recommendations for, and execute approved budgets to fund operate department.
- Ensure resource/manning needs are maintained commensurate with contract requirements.
- Possesses a minimum of ten years of experience in quality assurance management, with a strong background in shipyard/ship repair environment.
- Bachelor of Science in related field or equivalent experience strongly desired.
- Certified Quality Manager Preferred.
- Familiar with NAVSEA standard items and associated military and commercial regulatory requirements.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting work specifications, blueprints, standards and references.
- Able to obtain DBIDS certification.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to maneuver ascend and descend stairs/ladders/ramps located inside various ships.
- Frequently moves throughout the yard.
- Ability to move more than 40 lbs.
- May be exposed to rapid changes in microclimates, industrial processes, and other environmental factors while collecting data, providing direction, and observing performance of task teams.
